Contents overview

This seminar familiarises students with current economic research on human behaviour under uncertainty. Participants will gain an insight into key issues in the economics of uncertainty and the empirical and theoretical methods of analysis used in this field of research. Potential topics include the formation of expectations about the future, the influence of these expectations on decisions, the role of different narratives in the formation of expectations and the question of whether people develop so-called ‘motivated expectations’, for example in order to maintain a certain world view.

Further details will follow.

Learning goals

Participants will familiarise themselves with current literature on the subject area of the seminar. In the accompanying exercise "Scientific work", the formal and conceptual basics for writing a scientific paper are dealt with. The course thus prepares students for writing their Bachelor's thesis in terms of content and methodology.
